Let’s be real for a second. We’ve all been there, that "spiritual plateau" where you’re going through the motions, showing up on Sundays, and saying the right things, but inside? It feels a little hollow. You know God has a big calling on your life, but your daily routine feels miles away from that divine purpose.
It’s what I call the "faith gap." It’s that uncomfortable space between where you are right now and where you know your spiritual calling should be. If you’re feeling a disconnect, don’t beat yourself up. It’s actually a good sign! It means your spirit is hungry for more. It means you aren’t satisfied with a surface-level relationship with the Creator of the universe.
As an online Christian life coach, I talk to people every day who feel like they’re stuck on spiritual autopilot. They want to go deeper, but they don’t know where to start. They’re looking for a roadmap that doesn’t feel like a chore list.
Today, I want to share three simple, actionable steps to help you bridge that gap and deepen your faith. And if you’re ready to really dive in, I’ve put together a 3-Step Guide to Deepening Your Faith that we’re going to walk through together.
Confronting the Disconnect
Before we jump into the steps, we have to address the elephant in the room: the disconnect.
Usually, when we feel far from God, it’s not because He moved. It’s because the noise of our current life, the stress, the social media, the endless to-do lists, has drowned out His voice. We get so caught up in "doing" life that we forget how to "be" with Him.
Confronting this disconnect starts with a moment of radical honesty. Take a look at your schedule, your priorities, and your thought patterns. Are you trying to build your kingdom or His? Are you seeking His face or just His hands (what He can do for you)?

When you realize that your spiritual calling isn't a destination you reach but a relationship you nurture, the pressure drops. You don't have to be perfect; you just have to be present. So, let’s get into how we can fix that disconnect and start moving toward a deeper, more resilient faith.
Step 1: Prioritize Intentional Intimacy (Prayer)
Deepening your faith isn't about knowing about God; it's about knowing Him. Think about any relationship in your life. If you only talked to your spouse or your best friend once a week for an hour, how deep would that relationship be? Not very.
Prayer is the heartbeat of your faith. But often, we treat it like a drive-thru window or a formal business meeting. We come with our list of demands, say "Amen," and walk away.
To deepen your faith, we need to shift from transactional prayer to conversational prayer.
The ACTS Method
If you’re not sure how to start, I always recommend the ACTS method. It’s a classic for a reason:
Adoration: Start by just telling God how great He is. Focus on His character, His power, and His love.
Confession: Be honest about where you’ve messed up. Clearing the air removes the barriers between you and God.
Thanksgiving: Look for the "small wins." Gratitude shifts your perspective from what you lack to how much you’ve been given.
Supplication: This is where you bring your requests to Him: for yourself and for others.
Living Prayer
But don’t stop there. Try "walking prayer." Talk to Him while you’re folding laundry, driving to work, or taking the dog out. The goal is to make God your constant companion throughout the day. When you start including Him in the mundane moments, you’ll start seeing Him work in ways you never noticed before. This is how you build Faith and resilience for the hard days.

Step 2: Feast on the Word (Scripture)
If prayer is you talking to God, the Bible is God talking to you. You can’t have a deep faith if you don’t know the character of the One you’re putting your faith in.
A lot of people struggle with Bible reading because they treat it like a textbook. They try to power through chapters just to check a box. But the Word is meant to be "daily bread": it’s supposed to nourish you.
Move from Reading to Internalizing
To truly deepen your faith, you have to move beyond just reading the words on the page. You need to let them get into your system.
Pick a Verse: Don't feel pressured to read whole books at once. Pick one verse.
Meditate: Read it slowly. What stands out? What is God saying to you through this specific sentence today?
Memorize: I know, I know: memorization sounds like Sunday school. But when you have Scripture hidden in your heart, the Holy Spirit can bring it to your mind right when you need it most.
When you internalize Scripture, you start to see the world through a biblical lens. Your "current life" starts to align with your "spiritual calling" because you’re operating from a place of divine truth rather than worldly opinion.

Step 3: Walk It Out in Community and Service
Faith wasn't meant to be lived in a vacuum. You can pray and read your Bible all day long, but if you aren't living it out with others, your growth will eventually hit a ceiling.
The Power of Community
We need people who will hold us accountable, pray for us when we’re weak, and celebrate with us when we’re strong. Isolation is the enemy of spiritual growth. This is why I’m so passionate about The Journey Collective. It’s a place where we stop trying to do it all alone and start growing together.
When you share your struggles vulnerably with others, you realize you aren't the only one dealing with a "disconnect." That shared experience creates a bond that strengthens everyone’s faith.
The Shift to Service
Finally, if you want to see God move, go where He is moving. Jesus spent His time serving the broken, the lost, and the hurting. When we shift our focus from "How can God bless me?" to "How can I be a blessing to someone else?", something miraculous happens. Our own problems start to look smaller, and our faith starts to feel bigger.
Service is the ultimate faith-builder because it requires you to trust that God will provide the strength, the words, and the resources you need to help someone else.

Putting the Pieces Together: Your 3-Step Guide
Deepening your faith doesn't happen by accident. It happens through intentionality. By confronting the disconnect, prioritizing prayer, internalizing the Word, and jumping into community, you are setting the stage for a spiritual breakthrough.
I want to help you make this practical. My 3-Step Guide to Deepening Your Faith is designed to take these concepts and turn them into a daily rhythm that fits your life: even if you’re busy, even if you’re tired, and even if you’ve felt stuck for years.
The gap between where you are and where you want to be isn't as wide as you think. It just takes one step at a time, moving in the right direction.
Are you ready to stop settling for a "surface-level" faith and start diving into the deep end? Let’s get to work. Your calling is waiting, and God is already there, ready to meet you.
If you’re looking for a tribe to run this race with, come check out The Journey Collective. We’re all about building faith and resilience together, one day at a time.
